Salmo ist der Name einer Gattung aus der Familie der Forellenfische. Der artenreichen Gattung gehören mit der Forelle (Salmo trutta) und dem Atlantischen Lachs (Salmo salar) beliebte Speisefische an.
Neben diesen Fischen gibt es einige weitere Arten der Forellen, etwa die nordamerikanische Goldforelle (Salmo aquabonita). Die aus Nordamerika stammende Regenbogenforelle (ehemals Salmo gairderi) zählt ebenfalls klassischerweise zu den Forellen, obwohl sie heute der Gattung der pazifischen Lachse (Oncorhynchus) zugeteilt wird: Oncorhynchos gairdneri.
